Collaboration with Mis.Steps

This summer, Laura Zurowski asked if I’d design the cover for the 7th issue in her Mis.Steps project.  Laura started Mis.Steps in 2017, inspired by a book cataloging the city steps of Pittsburgh.  She’s visiting all 700+ sets of city steps, taking a Polaroid and writing a bit at each location  Twice a year, she puts out a booklet.

I also love the city steps and have long wanted to do some art project connected to them, so it was great to be asked to get involved.  Our discussions continued over the summer and into fall and it ended up being a great collaboration.  I got free reign to redesign the booklets and did a series of pen and ink illustrations; things went so well, we ended up doing a poster too.

Both are available from the Mis.Steps website.  The booklet is $15 and includes a folded poster on lightweight paper.  The poster by itself is $10, printed on heavier paper and mailed in a tube.

Mis.Steps is also available at Printed Matter in New York and has been accepted for their Virtual Art Book Fair in February.
